Proper Nouns

 Common Nouns are generic names for people, places, things or ideas.

Dog, cat, girl, ball, sport, beach 


Proper Nouns are specific names for people, places, things or ideas.

Mr Moran, Atawhai, Pt England, 


Proper nouns need capitals!


dog vs auckland 


chair vs jermaine


paint vs sky tower


love vs glen innes


fortnite vs colour



Possessive Nouns


If you possess something you own it.


Bob’s tennis racket.


Jenny’s house.


We use an apostrophe ‘ to show possession.


Bob's lunch looked delicious.
